FAQ's

We often get asked the same questions. Here are some of the most popular, together with the answers!

What are the school day hours?
The school starts at 8.40 and finishes at 15.15 (3.15pm).

Where do I take my children to, and collect them from?
Please escort your child to their classroom door by 8.40am, and collect them from the same at 3.15pm. Parents should not use the reception door for collection of children at the end of the school day.

Do you have a breakfast club?

Do you offer after school care?
Yes, parents can pay £5.00 per day or £20.00 per week for afterschool Childcare Club from 3.15 - 5.15pm.  Children enjoy activities and a snack in the safety of the school environment.

Where can I buy the school uniform?
We sell Mellers sweatshirts at the main school office @ £7.00 each. There are also some second hand sweatshirts, washed and clean at 50p each.

Is uniform compulsory?
It is not compulsory, but we do like to see children in a school sweatshirt as it makes everyone look smart and makes them feel like part of Mellers.

What do I need to do if I want to take my child on holiday?
We no longer authorise holidays during term time.  Applications for extended leave for exceptional circumstances only should be made to the Headteacher in writing on the relevant school form. Please see our Attendance Policy in the 'resources' section for full details.

How much is dinner money?
School meals are £1.85 per day, or £9.25 per 5 day week. Meals should be ordered and paid for on a Monday at the school office.

When is the school expansion happening?

The building will begin over the summer holiday 2016,  It is forecast that our new building will be handed over to us towards the end of May 2017; at this point the current Year 5 and 6 classrooms will be vacated by those pupils to allow the reconfiguration of this area to become the new F2 classrooms.
