Chair of Mellers Governing Body

I became a governor of Mellers Primary School in January 2003 and I was elected Chair of Governors in January 2009.  My association with the school goes back to November 1st 1971, when my seven year old son transferred from Douglas Junior School to the brand new Mellers Primary School!

As a former parent of this school, and a retired Headteacher, I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead our strong governing body and to contribute to the development of the school.

Miss Dawson leads, very ably, a large team of dedicated, enthusiastic and hardworking staff.  People hold a variety of positions within school and each member of staff is valued and respected and contributes towards providing the best education possible and a safe and attractive physical environment in which children and adults can achieve their full potential.

We seek to help children to value and respect themselves and others.  Mellers children are expected to work hard and to do their best at all times.  In addition to the formal curriculum, children are given many opportunities to develop their interests and skills in a range of school clubs, working with visitors from the fields of drama, music, dance, sport and environmental education and by going on visits out of school.

On behalf of the governing body of Mellers School, I wish to pledge that we work in partnership with school staff and the local authority to provide an enriched education of the highest quality for all the children in our care.
