Chair of Mellers Governing Body

Dear Parents, Carers and Members of the Community,

It was with great pride that I tool on the role of Chair of Governors at the last meeting of the Full Governing Body in 2017.

I have long been associated with Mellers Primary School and have been a governor since 2012 when I joined the Governing Body when I retired as Head of Manning School for Girls.

I am passionate about the education of children and young people in Nottingham and I believe that every child has the right to the very best in education enabling to fulfil their full potential. That is why I agreed to become Chair of Governors at Mellers.

At Mellers the Governing Body recently discussed its vision for the school and we are absolutely clear that we want the school to  to pursue its high aspirations for our students whilst continuing to strive for the very best in academic outcomes, underpinned by inspirational teaching and the highest expectations of behaviour and attendance. We are a school which puts creativity at the heart of what we do to enrich the educational experience of our students.

If you, too want this for your children then Mellers is the place for you! As a governing body we are always open to hearing your ideas for our school. We have two parent governors who are always keen to listen to the views of parents and members of the community and as Chair of Governors I am always available to contact through the school office.

Please be assured that as your governing body we are always working to challenge the school leaders to ensure the highest standards for your children.

Yours sincerely

Lesley Lyon
