One of our pupils is receiving medical treatment for an illness that puts them at risk if they are exposed to measles, mumps, rubella (German measles), chicken pox or shingles.

The best way to protect our pupil from measles, mumps, rubella (German measles) is for all children at school / nursery to be immunised against these common childhood diseases. Please would you discuss immunisations with your GP if your child has not already received them?

If your child is suspected of having measles, mumps, rubella (German measles) you should let the school know immediately.

Our pupil is also at risk of chicken pox and would need to be given an injection within 3 days contact of someone who has chicken pox. If your child is suspected of having chicken pox you should let us know immediately.

It is also important to let us know if there is shingles in your household.

Your child is not under any risk whatsoever from this situation however, the health and wellbeing of our pupil who is at risk, does depend on the co-operation of all other parents and we hope that you will help us.
