Pupil Premium and Sports' Award

Mellers Primary School will receive £170,146 in pupil premium funding during 2018-19; 52% of our pupils are eligible for pupil premium funding, which is granted to school by the government to give extra help to the children whose parents are eligible for free school meals. Our nursery aged children also receive additional early years' pupil premium funding, and this is used to fund staffing and the improvement of the foundation unit's outdoor learning area.

This money is allocated to schools according to the numbers of pupils whose families are eligible for free school meals and is intended to help schools further support those pupils that are falling behind in their education in order to help them to achieve their full potential, both academically and socially. We will also receive £17,800 from sports award funding. The government gives all schools extra money to make sure that sports provision is of the highest quality, and to ensure that all children take part in physical exercise regularly.
