6.12.19 Jo Kervick

On Friday 6th December I met with Miss Dhanjal who is the lead practitioner for the Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education (SMSC). This term, Miss Dhanjal has completed a long-term plan for PHSE, which includes the delivery of Success in Schools, First Aid for Feelings and also regular circle time. The plan clearly maps out the teaching across the whole school.  At the moment, the main focus is SRE as this is to become compulsory in 2020.  We have a scheme in place to ensure that the teaching of SRE is both age and stage appropriate.  As a school we also have a Drug Awareness scheme of work. This half term Miss Dhanjal has completed drug awareness lesson observations.  The outcomes of the observation were positive and show clear progression across the school.  As a result of the observations, Miss Dhanjal has suggested that each class has a questions box.  This will allow children to ask questions or voice any concerns they may have.
