13.11.20 Lesley Lyon, Chair of Governors

Governors have been very busy so far this term and presently we are in the middle of our Governor Monitoring Week; this is when Governors talk to subject leads and other key people in school about the work around teaching and learning and progress of your children. We will be publishing the notes from these meetings after our full governor meeting on 19th November – so watch out for them.

We have been fully involved with the re opening of school since lockdown and our own Covid outbreak in early September. In our Pupil Progress meeting and Pupils and Curriculum meeting we have been focusing on the progress of your children to ensure that gaps in their learning have been identified and the school understands how to ensure that the children catch up what many of them missed. We have been pleased to see the plans in place for addressing these gaps are detailed and effective.

We have also been focused on the well being of your children. We know that many families and children suffered real hardships and trauma during lockdown and we have been delighted with the school’s focus on ensuring that they are supported and happy in order to maximise their learning and progress.

I have been fortunate to be a part of the school annual performance review, with our external advisor, as well as the review of performance by Miss Dawson. We were delighted to be able to reflect on the continued progress the school has made under Miss Dawson’s excellent leadership, despite the challenges of Covid.

I would like to thank you all for your  support for the school. I know the challenges you are facing and applaud your strength in supporting your son or daughter at this difficult time. If you would like to talk to a member of the Governing Body please contact the school office and we can arrange a meeting or phone call.
